How to Get Better Photos of Your Large Wedding Party

There is no rule that says you can only have a handful of people at your wedding party in an outdoor wedding venue in Statesville NC. Some couples prefer to include all the most important people in their lives. If your wedding party consists of 15 – 20+ people, you’ve officially got a much bigger squad than the average bridal couple.

But what do you do when it comes to capturing photos as a larger group? Is it still possible to get good photos?

It is and the following tips will help.

Set enough time aside.

On average, your photographer needs around 3 minutes to set up a group shot. This means a normal wedding party photo session won’t take longer than 15 – 20 minutes. For couples with a larger wedding party, set aside at least 40 minutes for these shots. This will allow for fun as well as formal shots.

Brief the group ahead of time.

The quicker your wedding party comes together, the easier it is for your photographer to stick to your timeline. If you are going to have a large wedding party at an outdoor wedding venue like Green Gables Farm, communication needs to be a priority. Get everyone on the same page ahead of time, not on the day of your wedding.

Consider switching up your timeline.

Since you may be slightly more pressed for time than the average couple, you may want to consider a first look. This way, you can get your couple of portraits out of the way before your day gets too busy. You will need to move up your timeline and get ready slightly earlier, but at least you will be less stressed later on in the day.

Plan your shots.

Sit with your photographer ahead of your wedding day to discuss your group shots. Once your photographer understands what you want, it speeds up the overall process on the day.
