The First Look
You have spent months, maybe even a year or more planning this day. So much planning. So many decisions. So many people involved. Yet, there is still one surprise left…YOU in your dress.
The BIG question has been asked and you said YES. The final BIG question is do you want a FIRST LOOK before the ceremony?
WHAT IS THE FIRST LOOK?
The first look is where the bride reveals herself in full wedding dress to her groom. Some brides choose the first look to be private…just the bride and groom. For others, they want it to be with a select few like the wedding party only or even both sets of parents.
Years ago, this was not even a question to be considered. Seriously, there were only so many photos that could be taken in a church. But now with weddings being held on beautiful and spacious properties like Green Gables Farm, the photo opportunities are endless. That means extra time.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF THE FIRST LOOK?
The benefit of a First Look before the ceremony is two-fold. First, the bride and groom have a private moment to see each other. Usually that first look is conducted in front of all the guests and officiant and can be a little overwhelming. A private First Look is both sweet and sentimental. Second, the photographer can shoot photos usually done after the wedding and save time between the ceremony and the reception. Most first looks save about 20 to 30 minutes of photos; especially if the wedding party partakes.
The First Look would take place before your guests see you making it a private special moment for a select few and allow for the party to get started sooner!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Lets start with there is no right or wrong decision. It is truly your preference. Some couples want to share that special moment with everyone at their wedding. Some couples want it to be a private moment.
For those who choose not to do a first look, make sure that you have a detailed outline of the photos you do want taken so your cocktail hour covers enough time for all your photos and you don’t feel rushed through them.
QUICK TIP
If you choose Green Gables Farm, make sure you bring your photographer to one of our open houses to scout the property for the locations you want for your wedding photos.
